March 16, 2006 at 7:06 pm #19852David,
Could you email me some info you may not want to post here but WHO ARE YOUR PARENTS? I ask because I might just know them. I’m thinking you are probably around the age of my nieces. And I went to school with a bunch of Webbs. Most importantly though who is your mother?

March 16, 2006 at 7:06 pm #19857So he connects to the Harrells too. The Harrells are dark skinned. In high school one of my good friends was a Harrell and she was dark skinned Like most in the area it seems. And he connects to the Eason also remember my Rogers line connects to the Eason. My Sister says our Amason connect to the Bass as well in our direct lines. Plus the Farmer family too. We are talking Saratoga big time. When Wilson County split from Edgecombe in 1855 Saratoga was then in Wilson County. This is were many of my families can still be found. My Ruffin family came out of Southampton County in VA to Northampton NC and then they are found in Saratoga. My Amason married into the Ruffins and their daughter married a Rogers. Alexander Rogers to be exact my great grand father.

March 16, 2006 at 7:06 pm #19860Bill, I can’t thank you enough for this. I think you just took my family tree two generations further! Do you know if any of these names (Taylor, Forbes, etc) tie with any documented native tribes/ individuals? I will check out the Haliwa Saponi, etc because I know they have specific names that they claim as originators. Do you know about the Waccamaw-Siouan Webb connection? One of their chief’s– James Webb is descended from a splinter group of Tusc or Saponi who fled to join the Waccamaw. As far as I know they are researching this too.
Unfortunately, I do not know anything more about Eva Bell Collier. Is she a lost cause? I might be able to contact my Uncle Donnie for info.
Linda, Its so good to hear that we are so interlinked. I don’t have much communication with my dad’s paternal family (the Webbs). Most of the time when I’m up there its to see the Glovers—his mom’s family. My dad’s name is Dennis (Butch) James Webb. My mother—born and raised in FL is Chrys Webb. I’m 28 years old. We live in North FL now. My dad’s father- Bobby left when my dad was young and they didn’t keep much contact. I met him when I was a kid, and that’s about all I knew of him. He remarried and had kids. My dad has a half brother—Vernon Ray who goes by “Ray.” We have had some contact with him and his wife Rose (also a Webb?). When they met about 10 years ago there was a write up in the local paper up there. I am going to contact them soon to share what I’ve learned and to see how interested they are in working with me on some of this. I’d like to travel up there soon to talk with them and I would like to go to the powwow in that area in May. I might try to trace some documents if I need them at some point.
I think that the Vernon Webb you knew was my Great- grandfather. He died in the early 1980’s. I would love it if you could share some info/ stories with me about him—maybe in a private e mail.
Thanks for being patient with my responses. Believe me I’d be on here more if I could. I’m up half the night thinking about this stuff!
March 16, 2006 at 7:06 pm #19863David,
Was Eva Bell a Carter or a Collier?
………………
Linda,
I don’t know is this is the same Webb family.
………………
Amerson Connection:
“William Webb (Jr) m’d Sarah Amerson on 3 Jan 1840 Edgecombe Co., NC. Bondsman: David Webb” (Edgecombe Vital Records)
William Webb Jr is the son of William Sr, who was probably the son of John Webb Sr, b. 1762 Northampton Co., NC; d. 7 Oct 1841 Edgecombe Co., NC, m’d 10 Oct 1785 Gates Co., NC: Teresa Duke, d/o John Duke.
Nancy Taylor (d/o Samuel?) was the wife of John Webb Jr, b. 1789, d. 1869.

Sory I can’t really reply with any info tonight. When I went out to go to work this morning i found my kitty cat dead in the driveway with his insides pulled open. My neighbors said they heard wild dogs out there last night. This is the 4th cat in the neighborhood these dogs have killed. There’s a couple men in the neighborhood going to sit up waiting for them tonight. We are thinking they are rabid. I’m really upset.

March 16, 2006 at 7:06 pm #19886Come back to the chase when you feel better.
March 16, 2006 at 7:06 pm #19895Linda, I’m so to hear about your cat, thats terrible. I had that happen to a cat that my parents had for 18 years– I grew up with her. Hope you can get the culprits.
Bill, according to the family info I was given by my uncle Eva Bell’s maiden name was Collier. But I’ve found some of the other info to be incorrect on dates and names. I drew out my family tree last night (I’m a visual learner) and it all made sense. The only confusing part was the intra-marrying! From what you presented to me so far there was not one piece that did not fit. Thanks again!
March 16, 2006 at 7:06 pm #19896I also wanted to mention something else. Addie Webb was supposedly the full-blood (generic tribal ID’s such as Cherokee or “Blackfoot”) Indian. Kinyard and her were also said to be distant cousins, which would explain the continuation of the native traits in my family. I know that we have to have more recent Indian blood, or it has just been there all along in virtually all of my ancestors. This is the only explanation for the way we look (my dad being one example, he is VERY dark, and has native features, but a more Caucasian nose). Judging from my old family photos everyone looked like this. We were obviously Indian all along, but for survival purposes appear as “white” on most records. YET WE HAVE MAINTAINED OUR STRONG INDIAN IDENTITY.
Bill, from what you have found Addie’s Maiden name was Forbes. Does this name have any historic ties to any area tribes? (I previously thought she was a Webb by birth). Do any of the names we have so far connect to a particular tribe? It doesn’t make sense to me that with as “Indian” as we are the connection is so enigmatic.
Thanks again!
March 16, 2006 at 7:06 pm #19916ok Bill what were you talking about…did you mean you do not thinkthis is the same Webb family? What makes you think that
March 16, 2006 at 7:06 pm #19921Most likely David it’s probably most of your ancestors have some ndn. Although I have heard of several fullblood stories from our area. My mom is dark (hair, eyes, skin) but me well my dad was the whitest white on earth LOL I’m not joking man this man was white white…so I’m really washed out lol. My Dad and his family seen to be full of dominant recessive traits…I have an aunt on his side with white blonde hair…myself I have dark blonde hair…..real dark blue eyes(navy or midnight take your pick LOL) my skin is fair but tans up a real pretty redbrown…I have a red tint to my skin even when it’s not tanned my dad did not have this. I have my mother’s facial structure but believe me it looks better with dark hair. Before it turned gray my Mom had dark dark brown hair I guess you call that black/brown. Sometimes it looked black sometimes it looked brown she just said it was brown. Her brother had black hair and real dark eyes. My aunts put so much junk on their hair I couldn’t tell you what color it’s supose to be LOL But her youngest sister did have black hair I do remember that. My grandmother had black hair but my grandfather had light red hair and he had midnight eyes. I have pictures I could show you. I have one of my Mom and her mother. Then I have one of my greatgrandparents (my grandfathers parents) They were Alexander Rogers and Sue Amason Rogers. Grandpa Alex has a narrow face and high cheekbones. Gotta figure out how to get those pics on here.

I meant that I don’t know if it is the same Webb family you asked about, nor do I know that it isn’t the same one.
