March 16, 2006 at 7:06 pm #21927If not Edgecombe try Halifax or Pitt. Wilson County was not established until 3 years later. Maybe even Nash County
March 16, 2006 at 7:06 pm #21928Thanks Linda, I didn’t think of that….
March 16, 2006 at 7:06 pm #21930They were in Edgecombe on the 1860 Census. Where they married might determine where she was living when they were married, and provide a trail to her parents. My question was put in order to determine that basis.
March 16, 2006 at 7:06 pm #21931I know that is why I told him to check neighboring counties. I’m thinking probably Nash County. I am surprised thay are in Edgecombe in 1860 since Wilson County had already been established. What township were they in this could also be a clue as to where to look for her parents? Rocky Mount for example is in both Edgecombe and Nash County. Whitakers is near the Halifax County line. Bailey is near the Wilson County line. I hope some part of this helps find them. 🙂

March 16, 2006 at 7:06 pm #22028I’ve done all sorts of searches on Ancestry.com and can find no Nicey, except in that 1860 census. I’ve looked in NC and VA. No sign. I tried exact and similar spellings…. What does this mean?
I found this, could it be a relative?: http://home.earthlink.net/~bcamin/bbonds/alleghan.htm Bastard children? Oops!

March 16, 2006 at 7:06 pm #23801I’m a descendant of John Webb b.1705 Albemarle County, VA and Martha Claiborne. They had Austin Webb 1757 to 1758. Austin of 1757/58 had James W. Webb b.1784 in Wilkes County, GA now Elbert County.
John Webb of 1705 Albemarle County, VA was the son of George Webb. John Webb married Martha Peggy Lucy Claiborne in Albemarle County, VA.
