This above link is to a William Eaton.
William Eaton Sr. was born in York, VA. He married a woman named Mary in Prince George County, VA. William died in Febuary of 1759 in Granville, N.C. They had a son named William Eaton Jr. William Eaton Jr. married Mary Browne the duaghter of Henry Browne Sr. William Eaton Jr. married Mary Browne in Surry County, VA. William Eaton Jr. and Mary Browne had Sarah Eaton in Prince George County, VA. Sarah Eaton married Charles Johnson in Granville, N.C. They have William Eaton Johnson in Bute, N.C. and Hugh Johnson in 1762 Granville, N.C. William Eaton Johnson marries back into the Eaton family via Elizabeth Park whose mother was Elizabeth Eaton and father was William Park. (They marry in Warren, N.C. July of 1807— this marriage date seems off some how). Hugh Johnson marries Sally Green daughter of William Green Sr. and Mary Christmas in Warren, N.C. Hugh and Mary have children that go on to marry into the Jones family.
If anyone could help me locate information please check for William Eaton Johnson and Elizabeth Park in Warren, N.C. Also for William Eaton Johnson and his father Charles Johnson in Bute or Granville, N.C. It interests me to find out if either of these Johnson lines contains a Washington, James, Granville, or George Johnson as children or neighbors.
Thanks

November 23, 2005 at 3:31 pm #17711Thank you that would be great.
You answered a question I had about the marriages of Sarah Eaton. On the link I posted it wasn’t clear who was the first husband although I figured that since the Thornton children came first it must have been John Thornton as the first marriage. Thanks

November 23, 2005 at 3:31 pm #17730So! The Charles Rust Eaton who was underage in his father’s will born c1743, married Elizabeth Jeffreys, daughter of Osborne Jeffreys and Patience Spear (Speir)…sister to Elizabeth Jeffreys, Mary married John Hunt…(his last wife) son of Memucan Hunt and Mary Wade…
Memucan, in his will probated 1808, mention’s John Hunt’s children, but does not name them. See Andrea II: John Hunt’s Will, signed 8 Apr. 1807 and probated Dec. Court, 1807. Names all of his children by first wife (not named) and by “last wife” Mary Hunt. (nee Jeffreys). “John Stallings of Bute Co., N.C. A deed signed 3 Nov. 1770 to James Hunt of Bute Co., N.C., 100 acres of land and it being part of 640 acres granted originally to Osborn Jeffreys who on the 27 July 1761 sold same to Stallings. Witnesses: James Dendy, Kesiah Dendy & Charity Dendy.”

That is quite a connection.
I saw some new entries for Memucan Hunt in the process that I’ll post back to that original thread or I’ll start a new one if I can’t find the old one.

November 23, 2005 at 3:31 pm #17755This is speculation until I can get a good chance to digest and double check the info., but Saj that would make us related wouldn’t it?
The Webb family is my mom’s side. I think you are also related to me from my dad’s line as well.
If these lines hold up it would be a second connection to the Southeastern Siouans. Fascinating!
Thank you, both, Saj and Bill.
November 23, 2005 at 3:31 pm #17757Just an observation about your last name Janz. From what I researched Janz is another way to spell Janes and Jaynes, which was previously spelled Jeans. I have Jaynes on my mom’s side.
Actually Ellen Evely Webb married Charles Pinkley Riley. Charles’ mother was Eliza I. Jaynes and the Jaynes were from Pickens Co. S.C. in possibly the Oconee area near the Keowee River.
November 23, 2005 at 3:31 pm #17758Bill do you know Paul K. Collins there in Indianapolis?
I ask because you said you have Collins lines. If I’m not mistaken he is a more closely related relative to Brenda Collins Dillion.
Just a curiosity question.
November 23, 2005 at 3:31 pm #17761No. I don’t know him.
Bill
November 23, 2005 at 3:31 pm #17764Collins,
This IS exciting! We would be connected.
Bill! Thank you.

November 23, 2005 at 3:31 pm #17765Sue,
I don’t want to hijack this thread but be aware that this is the area and people that Becky and I are currently researching for this Cameron mill project. In deed dated 7 Apr 1809, Duncan Cameron bought 2300 acres on flat river from Osborne Jeffries Sr. On 15 Sept 1812, Cameron bought 738 acres from Osborne Jeffries Jr.
The Cameron overseer for the Person Co plantation was James Cothran, son of John Cothran and Mary Satterfield (sister to my line of Satterfields) James’ children marry and tie together through sibling unions the whole group we have discussed at length on another thread……Allen, Burton, Gooch, Tapp, Moore, Bumpass, Jones, Sneed, Chambers, Lunsford, Mangum, Cozart, etc, ad nauseum.
In short, the Jeffries plantation brought these people together and the Cameron plantation kept them together. Both plantations were very tolerant of ndns and mixed bloods as desirable overseers and tradesmen
November 23, 2005 at 3:31 pm #17766Ken,
You surely aren’t hijacking and I appreciate any input and help. Your project is pretty amazing!
We aren’t stepping on anyone’s toes are we by posting names? Hey now I’m paranoid. Sue
November 23, 2005 at 3:31 pm #17767Sue, people whose toes get damaged easily should invest in some steel-toed boots LOL
The more info the better. We will be going public in a big way in the near future. Another Sue 😉 who is a Moore/Burton/Parker descendent, gave me the first connections because of her belief that the Burton/Sneed/Allen group were in Person(Old Orange/Granville/Bute)Co,NC because of the Osborne Jeffries plantation.
I will take this back to the Cameron thread when I get time to do an update 😉
