James Carmical Webb died April 11, 1932 Norman, OK Duncan County.

Sara “Sally” Adora Gross/Goss/Groce died May 9, 1895 Waco, TX McLennan County.

The 1900 McLennan Tx census lists James and 3 oldest sons as b. Ga before 1880, but they’re not in 1880 Ga that I can find, so that b.Ga info may be incorrect for the kids. I’ll try again later.

1880 census shows James and Sara “Goss” pg.a73 761st Texas Dist. Heard County, GA.

She also was called “Sallie”.

Heard Co is just north of Troup Co.

Coweta is the next county east of both.

There are 4 young children in 1860 Coweta and one is a James of the right age. I’m going thru marriage records to see if parents fall out.

This may or may not be any help but I googled James Carmichael Webb and got the following:

“Looking for siblings of the above (James was born 1855 in Coweta Co. Ga.) J Susan born 1846, Emily Eveline born 1847, Mary Elizabeth born 1848. John born 1849. Issac born 1853. There also was a Gilbert listed in the 1860 census. These are the children of John A. and Eveline Herridge Webb. John A. died about 1856 and Eveline probably died about 1863. These children may have went to Alabama. Can anyone help?

So what we are seeing in the census, based on a best guess on the information shown, James Carmical Webb’s parents are John Webb and Eveline Herridge? or is this John a brother to James?

If I’m off on a tangent let me know. Sometimes lines of family confuse me. I’m wondering if I’m missing a generation.

We’re not missing a generation.

Compare the 1850 census to the 1860 census for Evaline Webb’s household that I posted on 3-17-06. The younger John would be James’s older brother. The older John would be the father of both John Jr and James.

Of course, James hadn’t been born as of the 1850 census, but his older siblings had and are on that 1850 census for John and Eveline Webb’s family.

I’d say you need to look for info on John A. Webb and Eveline Herridge’s families.

This is from Jack Webb.

He has that John A. Webb is the son of James W. Webb b. 1784 Wilkes Co., GA d. 1846 Penton, AL Chambers County son of Austin Webb and Ailsey Waters.

He has my Great Great Grandmothers name spelled Ellendora “Ella” Webb. I always heard it as Ellen Evely Webb.
