Grand entry will most likely be at noon. That just means the gates will be open and vendors open. You can check with Mike and Jeannie for sure, I think you have their phone numbers…they will be up there beginning on Thursday night, even though school day was cancelled.
December 30, 2008 at 3:56 pm #34387Confirmed by WC office. Grand entry at noon.
December 30, 2008 at 3:56 pm #34389Thanks all. I’ll have to collect phone numbers again when we’re there, lost my address book this summer. I’m headed to grandpa’s farm near Stuart tomorrow, so no more internet for awhile.
December 30, 2008 at 3:56 pm #34397The Wolf Creek Pow wow in Stuart was filled with great spirit….much dancing…many vendors…and it was so good to see Spilleddi along with Beeleaf and Kira Leigh from the forum. Camping in the Virginia mountains…seeing the beautiful sunrise…enjoying sharing food and fellowship with everyone….it was a fantastic weekend!!
December 30, 2008 at 3:56 pm #34398Please forgive me, White Dove…I forgot to mention that you were a part of our group…and we really had a blast!! Doesn’t get much better than that…..any one going to Waccamaw?

December 30, 2008 at 3:56 pm #34412At the last minute, Ken and I decided to attend Cheroenhaka Fall Festival that was held in Blackstone, VA. It was small, but, we had a good time dancing. The emcee was a very friendly guy and the drums were rocking as usual, when NaMaWoChi are present. Red Earth Singers was the second drum. There were just a few vendors and only one food vendor, but it was the tribe’s so I was able to have my sweet potato jack….heavenly. It was held on the airfield so there was plenty of parking close by. Definitely one to keep in mind for next year.
On a side note, they will be doing one Nov. 20-21 in Virginia Beach with 4 drums. That one will be held at Fort Story. Head dancers will be different.

December 30, 2008 at 3:56 pm #34486Enjoyed visiting everyone at Wolf Creek in Stuart and appreciate the wonderful hospitality from everyone I met. I only now got back home from visiting, its a bit of a drive, but worth it. Maybe I’ll powwow with you all in another 2 or 3 years. I took my sister and her little ones to a small powwow in Maryland and I think they got the bug, so maybe you might start seeing her around.
December 30, 2008 at 3:56 pm #34489It was our pleasure. It was so good to see you again. Hope your drive back was uneventful….would love to drive across country at some point in my life. Hope your sister will find some of us if we happen to be at a pow wow with her….would love to meet her.

December 30, 2008 at 3:56 pm #34572Well, the pow wow at First Landing (Fort Story) had a good attendance of both dancers and general public. There were probably about 10 different vendors. There were three drums. The weather was chilly and windy, mainly because the location is right on the water. It was good to have one more pow wow to dance before the winter sets in altogether.
Note for next year….wear long johns!!
