Hey Shirley & Saj! Yep, Isaac is Solomon Bailes brother. Solomon was my GGG-Grandfather he was m to Mary Martin. Margaret Jane Hart Bailes was m to Solomon’s son Robert. They were my GG-Grandparents. I knew Margaret Jane was buried at Bailes Cemetary. I think Mary was a nickname for Margaret cause her dau (my GreatGrandmother’s) name was Mary Margaret Bailes m Newton Tyler Fitzwater etc. Thankyou Saj for finding that info. Just when you think you’re going to go blind scouring everywhere you think there is, something turns up with help of fresh eyes and good people who want to help. Sparks, Hart, Bailes kinda coincidental ? or maybe not? since they’re part of my lines doesn’t sound like happen-chance, does it? Shirley, we may be blood lady:) Once again, thanks Sue and talk at ya’ll later Peace & Blessings Greydove (aka Donna) ~~^~~
November 22, 2007 at 10:20 pm #29375oops! Isaac was Solomon’s brother John’s son. related at any rate Donna
November 22, 2007 at 10:20 pm #29378Gosh Saj, now I really feel silly. You were refering to Samuel Hart. Now I’m not real sure, I know they’re my kin well he is my 4th GreatGrandfather and I don’t know much in the past (parents, siblings etc.) But his dau m Robert Bailes and she is buried at Bailes Cemetary Nicolas Co WVA. He and his wife (another Margaret)(Unknown) are buried at Keslers Cross Lanes. Maybe we can connect all this. I got a feeling Shirley & I are of the same tree maybe diff branches, but lets find out. Thanks again and please excuse my mix-up. ~~^~~Greydove
November 22, 2007 at 10:20 pm #29422Hi All! Ran across an interesting link today while I was on a Martin message board. There was alot of ref to Cherokee blood-lines. My GGG-Grandmother-Mary Martin b 1820 d 1868 Nicolas VA m Solomon Bailes b 1815 Kanawha Co. VA d 1893 Nicolas Co WVA. I still haven’t been able to find her parents & I looked alot today. There are other trees with her in it & none lists her parents ( I think an indication she may have been ndn). Anyway, I found an interesting link. Enjoy Greydove:) ~~^~~ http://www.rootsweb.com/~ncperson/high_plains.htm
November 22, 2007 at 10:20 pm #29430Hello, I am so glad to be a part of this site. I am new, but this is wonderful. Thanks to Linda Carter and her family! Apparently I am not the only Green/Sizemore decendent that has questions. I wander what did my ancestors go through during the trail of tears. Who belonged to which tribe? How did my relatives end up in Wise County Va? Apparently there are a lot of missing holes from the indian tribe to Ashe Co NC, Guilford Co NC, and Grassy Mountain Va to parts of Letcher Co KY. My GG-Grandmother was Celia Clementine Peak d/o Uriah Peak and Cornelia (Hart) Peak. Cornelia’s mother was Catherine Dolly Sizemore. I also have native american decent from other lines as well. I see a lot of marriages among cousins, which was acceptable in this era. I see a lot of surnames like: Hash, Sturgill, Green, Jackson, Ross, Teackle,Peak, Halsey,Ingram Brock,Sizemore,Hart, Polly,Hall,Blevins,Osbournes and finally Carter that pop up over and over. Most of the two year research I have encountered is that these poor folks did not have DNA technology in the day and their court fiindings for indian rights might have taken another path. I do know most of these surnames are of cherokee decent. We do know that they are at least part, if not quarteroon!! It apprears that there was significant intermarriage between cherokees, sapponis, catawbas, chickamaungas, and whites. I am at a brick wall. If there is any relative out there that can piece the details from the tribe to the appalachians va/nc/ky/tn, I would appreciate the most small information, no matter how small you think it is. Please help me find my history and my roots. God Bless our Ansectors!
November 22, 2007 at 10:20 pm #29431I am serious any findings no matter how stupid or how small you may think that it is, get back with me. I promise you, I want to listen.
November 22, 2007 at 10:20 pm #29433Hi Sandra W. Glad you found Saponi Town. I am fairly new here (2 mos) and have been doing family tree only since last Apr. There are alot of good people here that have alot of the same surnames as yours. I notice we have Hart in common. I tried to connect to the Sizemores, but haven’t been able to (yet)lol! Alot of my brickwalls seem to be my Great Grandmothers. Hmmm? But I do have my 4th GreatGrandfather Samuel Hart b 1792 VA (Alleghany) Can’t seem to find his parents. Anyway, nice to make your aquantence and good luck in your search. Peace & Many Blessings~~^~Greydove:)
November 22, 2007 at 10:20 pm #29434Retraction– Samuel Hart was my 3rd GreatGrandfather ( Hard to keep it all straight sometimes:rolleyes: Greydove
November 22, 2007 at 10:20 pm #29435While looking through my Thomas line, I see a Hart married into this line. Lucretia is the only one listed, so I don’t know anything of her parentage.
Lucretia Hart
Born: 1720-07-22
Warminster, Bucks, Pennsylvania, USA
Died: 1760-12-15
Southampton, Bucks, Pennsylvania, USA

November 22, 2007 at 10:20 pm #29438Hey Shirley! Nice to see you on line. You know, it’s kinda funny, but on the few cencus rcds I found Samuel Hart on, all listed his b place as VA, except one and it showed PA. So I searched for him in PA & it said alot of Harts settled there in Bucks PA, then immigrated into VA etc. I’m still trying to connect our Sparks, too. I go from one to the other when I get frustrated, ya know? Take care Greydove~^~

Hi Greydove,
Funny, one finds it is a very small world! I have found numerous family members on this site and some very close! 🙂
I find if I get really frustrated, it’s time to look at a different family line for a while. And what I have found, when you come back to that brickwall and all the research you’ve amassed, you may find something you overlooked. This was the case with my Sparks:) Blessings,
Shirley
