SenecaSaponi,
I am wondering if our Baldwin’s are the same line??
My Baldwin’s are as follows:
Elisha Baldwin (also listed as Balden or Bolden on census records) b. 1755 Wilkes, NC d. 1813 Ashe, NC m. Jane Landreth
son: Elisha Baldwin b. 1798 Grayson, NC m. Elizabeth?
son: John Floyd Baldwin m. Ceila Adkins
son: James Harvey Baldwin m. Isabelle Rosina Virginia Gibson
I notice we also have Yates and Anderson in common…my family ended up in Nicholas WV.

My maternal Osburn line connects with this family. The Ball line is related as well. The Jones line also connects to one of my maternal lines. None of these surnames are directly, but were married to a sibling of an ancestor of mine.

Sounds like we connect at Elisha…I have not looked to far into my Yates yet, but it looks like my Anderson’s came to Augusta, VA from DE. I will have to check this tree again…

Steve,
Is you Osburn line connected to Osborne, Osborn, Osbourne? This surname is indirectly associated with mine.

From which of these family names has the Blackfoot or NA history been passed down?
July 17, 2006 at 8:56 pm #29881Actually I started on this site in 2003 researching info on my mothers side of the family. My ggrandmother was NA. Not much is known about her. The picture on the Other Blackfoot article (Day Family of Ohio). This is her. The only known picture of her. My grandfather and his siblings were taken from her and grew up in group homes. They did not know her well. My grandfather tells me she would visit him and he could hardly understand her broken english. My grandfather and all his siblings say she was Indian. After countless hours most of the info does not coincide with this. Then again other family trees tracing back to her have at least three different men listed as her father? It gets confusing. Her name was Louella Day. My family definatly has NA physical traits. I have no reason to doubt my elders on this.
The people listed above are from my paternal line. It was rumored that there is NA blood somewhere. Most of my family on this side have alot of Indian characteristics. I don’t know if the Sizemore’s could be the the link here. The Workman line comes from them. I am constantly asked if I am Indian. Of course my answer is yes. I posted this info after seeing some queries for Workman and Sizemore.
July 17, 2006 at 8:56 pm #29882Sorry I may have missed the point here. My grandfather always said she was Blackfoot. This is how I found this site.

July 17, 2006 at 8:56 pm #29884“Is you Osburn line connected to Osborne, Osborn, Osbourne?”
I have no idea. Some say it was originally Osborn, some say it was originally Osborne, No one says it was Osbourne, but the constant, and how my grandmother and her mother had it spelled was Osburn. Depends on how a researcher wants to interpret the name I suppose. I just know my family spells it Osburn.

I do remember the photo of your grandmother, had I looked up you past posts…I would have seen that:o
I checked my Anderson tree…they did come out of DE, but then moved to Montgomery, VA.
My David, whose mother was a vail m. Jane Hackney, whose mother was a Vail, their daughter Mary m. Squire Adkins, their daughter Ceila m. John Floyd Baldwin (son of Elisha), their son James married Isabelle Rosina Virginia Gibson…and on…
So our Anderson’s may not be linked. I will have to continue with the Yates…

Just wondering, as I have a cousin…connected through the Gibson’s, who is an Osborn. I was wondering if there was a connection??

If you can trace them back to an Edmund & Mary Noe Osburn (my ancestors), then they would be related to my lines.
My Gibson ancestress, Nancy Gibson came from Pennsylvania to Ohio, eventually into the Carmel area (d/o Henry Gibson) with no Osborn, or varient, ties known. Osburn ancestors are maternal, Gibson ancestors are paternal. So on my end anyway, I have no Gibson/Osburn connection prior to my parents marriage…thus my birth.
