Maybe if all yall stand on your roof and blow real hard…
I managed to send a few storms down to California last year doing that, but I’ve been out of breath ever since.
Well, if you were watching Greg Fishel with Channel 5 early in the week…he said there might be a possibility…..but, now it’s mostly just a very cold and nasty rain…..good day to hunker down and watch movies…for those lucky enough to be off work.
The past 2 storms totalled 8″, but the first 3″ melted before the 2nd storm hit. Now another subzero night forecast, another big snow event around Monday, then a warming trend with about 48 straight hours forecast above freezing midweek. That should help get rid of some of the snow.
In the greater Spokane, WA and Couer d’Alene, ID area where I live, the biggest problem has become the weight of the snow on rooftops. Flat roofs are collapsing. Most regional Wal-Marts have closed pending structural inspections and removal of the snow from the roofs. Costco in Spokane also closed pending snow removal from the roof. A total of 30 commercial establishments have had at least partial roof collapses, including 5 today.
Traffic is at a snail’s pace as equipment can’t keep up with road conditions. Also, there’s no place for the plows to put the snow, so many arterials are down to 1 lane per direction rather than the normal 2.
A grader plowed my residential street this morning. Among the berm of snow and ice deposited in my driveway was a “snow/ice boulder” that was a full 4 feet in diameter.
My neighbor had a carport made out of a large tarp on aluminum framing. It collapsed 10 days ago. Ironically, he was on the phone talking about how he’d better move some snow off it acause it might break. He’ll probably laugh about it sometime in June, if the snow has all melted by then.
I’d follow spilleddi’s suggestion about trying to blow the weather away from me, but I’m too breathless from the constant snow removal to atempt it.
First of all I would just like to take a moment and wish everyone a Happy New Year. even the #@$ Yankees who keep pushing this cold stuff East and South.
We had real nice weather today, got up into the upper 60’s near 70. BUT, all of a sudden it became cold and up through Tues. we are supposed to get more winter. Thanks a lot guys!!

I love the Coeur d’Alene area:) I was b. in Kalispell, MT…not too far away…I am sure you have a lot of snow by now…hang in there:) Spring is only 4 months away…lol:)
Kalispell? Cool. I spent several weeks every summer with my grandparents in Bigfork (where the Swan River enters Flathead Lake) when I was growing up. I loved it there.
4 more months of this??? argghhh!!! Supposed to be in the 40s and raining for 2 days later this week. Should clear away some of the snow, at least from arterials, while causing some nice urban flooding.
I wish winter was just 4 more months. Last year winter lasted 6 more months, with a foot of snow in mid June.
Say your Prayers, take your vitamins and DO NOT let it stay around this year. We had a real warm day Sat and then all of a sudden that evening it turned REAL cold again. I wish it would make up our mind.

We only got a measly inch out of that storm. Another 3/4 inch and we’d have set the record for seasonal snowfall.
Not to worry though. December brought our 2008 total to 134 inches, which smashed the prior calendar year record by 40 inches. 11 feet plus is usually what the ski areas get each year, not what we get here in the lowlands.
Hopefully the current system will move Bob’s direction. Rainy with a nice warming trend, already 38 with 48 hours in the 40s expected. This “Pineapple Express” should melt some snow in a hurry. I’m already enjoying the balmy weather. 😉
Mild hereabouts mostly. We had some light hoodie weather last week. It’s been rainy for a whole day and getting cold, 39 degrees today. If that freezes we could have a problem. With no salt trucks, the roads get very dangerous. Plus people don’t have a clue how to drive on ice.

Been without a computer for a while–missed y’all!
Had gorgeous weather down here for a little while. The kids and I went to Ft. Caroline Saturday and it was warm…a little too warm because there was a crop of nasty gnats hovering about. Unlike the Spanish, they finally drove us away. That’s too bad because I really love to go there.
The nice weather will be short lived because we’re supposed to get rain–maybe thunderstorms–and then the temp will drop like a stone by about 20 degrees!:eek:
I think the high today was about 79…by Thursday, it will be 59. Sheesh! do I have weak blood–I hate the cold so very much. Anything below 75 is too cold for me. Plus, I suffer from constant zaps from static electricity during the winter, too–sho’ hate it!
So the temp overnight went from the mid 30s up to the 50s this morning…and the wind is really blowing. Thankfully, most of the rain is gone after a dreary drive into work. And then a cold front is supposed to come in….we are having some really weird weather.
The temperature was 35 this morning and has dropped down to 30 now turning the rain into sleet/snow. I agree – the weather has been weird this winter! But then again this is Ohio – the weather is always weird here.;)
Warming trend! Woo hoo! 47 degrees today. Snow is disappearing really fast. I can see my sidewalk and the streets. Officially we got 78 inches in 3 weeks. Dunno what to do with myself since I don’t have to get out the snow shovel tonight.
The downside is a LOT of flooding, but that, too, shall pass.
I heard that Spilleddi’s area was nearly 60 today.
